The Global Ecosystems Atlas is operated by the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), which is hosted by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). This site conforms to the privacy principles of the WMO.
We collect a limited amount of non-personal data to understand how visitors use the Atlas and to improve it. This covers pages visited, time spent on the site and general usage patterns.
Our analytics does not use cookies, does not store any identifier on your device, and does not fingerprint your browser. It cannot identify you or follow you between visits or across other websites. This information is used solely to improve the service.
The Atlas stores a small amount of information on your device so the site behaves as you asked:
These are set by the Atlas itself, contain no identifier, and are never shared. We use no advertising, marketing or social media trackers.
Map labels and satellite imagery are delivered by external providers. Loading them discloses your IP address to those providers, as it would for any externally hosted image. They do not set cookies on this site.
We collect personal data — such as your name, email address and organisation — only when you submit it voluntarily, for example when subscribing to updates. It is used exclusively for the purpose stated on the form, and is processed on our behalf by our email service provider.
We do not share personal data with third parties unless explicitly stated or required to carry out the activity you asked for.
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. To exercise these rights, or for any privacy enquiry, contact us at secretariat@geosec.org.
